The light installation is built on the idea that our perception of time is only a social construct and therefore an illusion. The particles of light caught on the strings and circles, show our limited perspective of time and the mirrors on the sides reinforce the idea that time is nothing more
than an illusion.

My Role: Concept, Animation, Spatial Design
Software: Cinema 4D, After Effects, MadMapper
Project Time:4 Months

Overview
This was part of a project which explored layers of space and time found in projected media installations. As the outcome, experimental scaled models were created to test visual storytelling,
spatial design and phenomenological effects of the combination of the two. This is one of the three concepts I researched and developed for spatial media installations. I was inspired by the fact that time is only a social construction and each society has rules for how time should be respected.
Challenges
Firstly, I had to consider what kind of visual form and spatial container could represent and communicate the concept that time is only a social construction. I also had to learn about materials as projection surfaces and increased my technological knowledge of how projection mapping works.
Solution
The particles of light caught on the strings and circles, show our limited perspective of time and the mirrors on the sides reinforce the idea that time is nothing more than an illusion.
Process
1. Planning and testing materials
Firstly, I conceptualized an animated and spatial form which would reflect the concept of Déjà Vu. Secondly, I tested materials to find out which would be the best as a projection surface.

2. Creation

3. Testing

4. Presentation
